I like it.
1.5-2 liter turbo engine, rumored.

That’s the NSX.

Without the hybrid system, less carbon fiber and smaller engine.
Why? Because the Cayman and the 4C need competition from Japan.

Actual thing or just unofficial nonsense as usual.

No, it says its the S2000 and CR-z is the other smaller image.
Then something about the S660 vs NSX TypeR.

Not official.

Won’t look like that, from what I know the NSX was developed in the US, while I imagine the S2000 will be developed in Japan.

It might, because:
a team of Japanese engineers was stationed at Honda’s Ohio R&D center for some time, and
the exterior design has little to do with the place where the car is developed, as both designs are approved and tweaked by Honda’s head designers in Japan, balancing the various inputs that arrive from design studious around the world

While this magazine’s changes to the front end styling are atrocious, I would 100% be down for a “baby NSX”, since ~$150k is just a bit out of my price range.
I have found myself thinking on multiple occasions that it would have been much smarter for Honda to have targeted the $80k-100k segment, where they would have been able to lure away 911, Cayman, GT-R, etc. buyers.

They should make a smaller one, a Honda Elise, I would have a heart attack if they did that.

They do, it’s called the S660/S1000.

Is it as quick as an Elise? I am going back to Japan next month, I will look for one.

No...
This car with an aluminum and steel body, a 2-ish liter inline 4 in the back, and a standard drivetrain (manual or dual-clutch gearbox options)
That sort of car should cost between 30-45K.
Well UNDER base Cayman, Lotus, and Alfa 4C pricing.
Directly between Honda’s new Kei S660, and the higher-end Acura/Honda NSX, and right at the price point that the old front-engined S2000 occupied. Plus mid-engined will be distinctly different that just a nicer alternative to Miata and it’s Fiat sister that is coming.
Just another competitor to Cayman, Evora, and 4C is crowding a market, while a lower segment is completely empty.

Exotic design, cheap car?

Are they really doing it? I would so prefer no tech.

Depends on the Elise. Original standard Elise is all about the handling, and I’m pretty sure a tiny little mid-engined kei car has that covered. I want one so badly.

Still a lot of rumors flying around. Keep an eye on this year’s Tokyo motor show. It’s said to be a blast from the past.
